My Story
I am a Boudoir and Portrait Photographer, I am originally from Melbourne and Recently returned after 6 years living in the US. I began shooting almost 10 years ago but have been shooting seriously for the past few years. I started shooting for Roller Derby Leagues around Arizona, which lead top my first big project the Bodies of Derby Calendar.
This originally started with a couple photos of a close friend and skater and a concept based on the ESPN Bodies Issue, which featured Implied nude portraits of famous athletes. She was Over the moon and loved the photos and showed her Team, who each then asked when can I do a Photoshoot. After the word spread I had over 25 skaters wishing to Participate and then “Bodies of Derby” was born a project to showcase the various Age, Size , Color, Shape of skaters in the roller derby community. Each skater had their own reasons for wanting to participate, from those who really wanted to push there comfort zone, Embrace their bodies, Show their diversity, Boost their confidence or just for fun. This theme as followed me with my Photography, even when I was exploring other Genres like Product, Commercial etc, I was Drawn back to the idea of helping women love themselves.
This is what has led me to where I am now Focusing on Boudoir Photography with everyday women, helping them Step out of there comfort zone, learn to embrace the beauty in their bodies. My favorite moments are when clients will say something like “You can’t make my Butt look good”, “It has never looked good”. Then their “holy crap” reaction when they see the shot on the back of the screen.
